Why do SDR games always feel like a second job… for the manager?
📄 You plan out the rules.
📝 You build a deck.
🖥️ You make a tracker.
🙋♂️ You chase people for updates.
📊 You manually tally the winners.
🏆 You announce it on Slack.
You get… 3 fire emojis 🔥 🔥 🔥 and a bunch of "who won?" replies.
Sound familiar?
It’s wild how much effort goes into getting reps to care about something that’s supposed to make their job more fun.
Here’s the hard truth:
If the reward system isn’t integrated into their workflow, it becomes just another Zoom meeting or doc to ignore.
Motivation should be automatic, not a PowerPoint presentation.
If your reps can’t see where they stand without asking you… the game’s already lost.
SDR leaders, if your incentive program disappeared tomorrow, would anyone notice?
If the answer is “probably not”… it might be time to rethink how you're doing this.
