One of the best questions to ask in sales (in my opinion) is... “What do you care about?” It’s open. It's human. And it cuts through the surface-level noise. Too often, sellers jump straight into pitching before they’ve earned the right. But asking what someone cares about shows you're not just there to talk, you're there to understand. It opens the door to real priorities: A VP might say "pipeline coverage" A founder might say "burn rate" A frontline manager might say "getting my reps to hit target" Once you know that, everything changes, your pitch, your tone and your value prop.
